Viking Hus

Location: London
Type: 9 residential units

A ransom tapered site restrained by overlook and outlook, offers creative scope to invent a new housing typology.
The proposal for 9 houses takes their form with inward private amenity at the heart of each house with stepped and ascending living terraces. A fluid and varied domestic programme connects with diurnal activities with seamless change of natural and artificial light played out through two primary materials: cast glass and Danish hand made bricks, both a reference to the sites silent narrative.
The homes are latently sculpted to offer moving interest to the street scene whilst giving the occupiers carved and crafted volumetric space, offering a positive alternative to the typical production housing surrounding the site.
